Savage Blood are a heavy metal band from Germany formed in 2016, releasing their self titled debut E.P. later the same year. The bands debut full length album 'Downfall' followed in 2020, with sophomore album 'Wheel Of Time' a 2023 release.
With a sound that blends elements of thrash into their heavy metal roots, Savage Blood have been making a name for themselves over the last few years with energetic and heavy hitting live performances, garnering a loyal fan base! And with their new album 'Wheel Of Time' roaring out of Osnabruck at full throttle, the bands fan base is only gonna get bigger and bigger - 'Battle Cry' opening the album with a barnstorming barrage of fast paced, all encompassing heavy metal! The pace is electric, the heaviness heavy, the band more than living up to the incredible legacy Germany has with regards to producing awesome metal bands! Only time will tell if Savage Blood are to join the country's greats - but they've made a cracking start with two heavy hitting albums in just three years! And the new album storms on with the faster paced 'Warriors Of The Fortress', echoing the classic sound of European power metal - the band blending elements of power metal into their heavy metal roots. A sparkling blend I'm sure you'll agree, and a blend I can easily listen to twenty four hours a day!
Upping the oomph and bombast, 'Oblivion' features the iconic guitar sound of the legendary NWOBHM, Savage Blood incorporating a little British metal into their overwhelming European style. The melodious nature of 'Oblivion' is incredible, the German five piece delivering melodic heavy come power metal with extra oomph! And when I say extra, I mean a lot - a hell of a lot! The band appear to have an endless supply of oomph, and aren't afraid to let it all go - 'Believer' maintaining the albums overall electric pace! The exhilarating nature of 'Wheel Of Time' is at an all time high, the band performing with immense passion and pride, delivering a feisty "foot on the monitor" gallop of infectious and highly head bang-able heavy metal. A more mid tempo, yet nonetheless intense aura descends upon the album in the shape of 'Raven Crown', a highly reined in energetic romp of power come heavy metal. It's like cruising in fourth out of five gears on offer, speeding along just short of top speed - exciting but not necessarily thrilling!
Although the band do offer thrilling - the majestic march of 'Lord Of The Dark' standing head and shoulders above many of metals anthemic bands, Savage Blood bludgeoning listeners with an incredibly weighty aural assault! The heaviness of 'Lord Of The Dark' is heavier than planet Earth, attracting fans with a much greater pull than gravity! Simply stunning stuff from a relatively young band still making their way in the metal world - 'Lost Memories' restores pace to the fore, 'Wheel Of Time' cruising along the autobahn with effortless ease. Not to mention with a more hustle and bustle nature than heard anywhere else on the album, the band visiting every corner of the heavy metal genre in their quest to deliver a varied heavy metal album. A quest that's easily been achieved, Savage Blood bringing their sophomore album to a close with the title song 'Wheel Of Time' - hitting listeners with every metal style in their locker! 'Wheel Of Time' (the album) has been an unstoppable gallop of all out heavy metal without a single break for a breather!
Overall, an intense and thoroughly enjoyable gallop of infectious and head bang-able heavy metal.
