Fight Them All

Rising Steel are a heavy metal band from France formed in 2012, releasing their 'Warlord' E.P. in 2015, and their first full length album 'Return Of The Warlord' in 2016. The band deliver a blend of traditional heavy metal with thrash metal nuances sewn in. Their sophomore album 'Fight Them All' was released in 2020...

...and is a full on and intense fifty three minutes of fast paced "foot on the monitor" heavy metal. If you like your metal a mix of Judas Priest, Metallica and Accept - you're in the right place! So get you neck muscles warmed up and let's go for a vigorous head banging workout... As the album explodes into life with the fast and furious 'Mystic Voices'. Planting both feet firmly on the monitor, 'Mystic Voices' is classic heavy metal fare, a cacophony of blistering guitars and thundering drums. An intense opening that remains, all the way through to the final hurrah. But right now, the title song 'Fight Them All' launches forth in a blaze of NWOBHM frivolity. Bands such as Saxon and Judas Priest spring to mind as 'Fight Them All' pummels to dust everything its path. Rising Steel have risen, and are hammering their steel very hard indeed - 'Steel Hammer' is as heavy as Thor's hammer, and will deliver just as much punishment. 'Steel Hammer' is the fastest song so far, a blistering all out head banger - and after just three songs, Rising Steel are showing their prowess at delivering infectious heavy metal, the likes of Maiden and Priest have delivered for over four decades!

Ah, the buzzing guitar sound synonymous with the NWOBHM evolution makes its appearance felt, in the mighty shape of 'Blackheart'. A bustling, hustling mix of heavy metal, thrash, and just a sprinkling from the power metal genre, 'Blackheart' resembles the sound of 'The Sanity Days', the legendary Grim Reaper vocalist Steve Grimmett's side project (check out the bands 2015 album 'Evil Beyond Belief' to hear what I mean). And now the album really gets going, with the storming 'Savage'. Savage by name, savage by nature, 'Savage' is a high velocity head banger, putting to shame many of the bands who claim to be of the "speed metal" variety. Even Maiden and Priest ain't this quick! Moving swiftly in to a menacing aura, 'Gloomy World' is a mid tempo thunderstorm, a thunderstorm that would not be out of place on a Megadeth album. The savagery, the menace, the aggression - they're all there in abundance. Oh man, the glorious sound of the NWOBHM lives - and lives in the majestic shape of 'Malefice' - the guitar sound is enough to make you go weak at the knees! The pace of 'Malefice' is fast, feisty, and furious, with plenty of head banging to accompany this one for sure.

Rising Steel have risen to the challenge to produce a very good, bordering on the great, metal album. The intensity and heaviness not letting for one moment. The band move into thrash metal territory with 'Metal Nation' wreaking havoc as it storms on at a savage pace. The mix of thrash and classic metal is a joy to behold, 'Metal Nation' hitting you straight between the eyes with brutal force. 'Fight Them All' (the album) has just been getter better and better - with no sign of the intensity slipping. And oh my God - Rising Steel suddenly bring touches of the hard rock genre to the fore. 'Pussy' is a thunderous metal and rock explosion, featuring the most infectious rhythm and sing a long chorus of any song on offer. This is cracking stuff from the French metallers - which only gets more cracking, as 'Led By Judas' takes flight, storming on at full tilt. 'Led By Judas' is fast paced "foot on the monitor" style heavy metal at its best, lacerating the airwaves with extreme prejudice. And to the final song - the heaviest hitting, hardest kicking offering, 'Master Control'. And what a final hurrah it is, thrashy heavy metal guaranteed to get a rise out of your steel...

Overall, a storming gallop of all out heavy metal with weighty chunks of thrash thrown in, Rising Steel have delivered a glorious gem.
