Imperial Dawn

Rexoria are a melodic heavy metal band from Sweden formed in 2016 releasing three albums to date - 'Queen Of Light' (2018), 'Ice Breaker' (2019), and 'Imperial Dawn' released in 2023...

...featuring a melodic heavy, power metal sound that will have the likes of Finland's Battle Beast and Sweden's own Metalite quaking in their leather studded boots! For Rexoria ooze the same kind of pounding, pop-like power metal pomp of these two great bands - along with the same insanely high infectious and energy levels. Rexoria's new album is ten songs and thirty four minutes of top notch head bang ability, exploding into life with 'Paradigm', and Frida Ohlin's powerful raspy voice! There's just something extra special about a female fronted metal band - maybe it's the beauty of the "woman" at the helm, maybe it's the fact I find a woman's voice (understandably) more attractive than a man's, or maybe it's because I'm a big softie and fall in lust very easily! Well whatever it is, trust me when I say 'Paradigm' is a sensational opening salvo, bursting with energy and heavy hitting melodies that aim straight for the heart - landing in the sweet spot with an emphatic grace that is just jaw dropping! And the sultry rasp of Frida's voice making me go weak at the knees is simply the icing on the cake!

So just how d'ya follow such a stunning opening? By ambushing the senses with an even bigger burst of energy that's how - 'The New Revelation' rocking even harder, and with much more melodious intent than the album opener. The infectious level is through the fucking roof, 'The New Revelation' appealing equally to metalheads and rockers - the flood gates well and truly open as the band march on with 'Devious Desire'. A mid paced mid tempo melodic monster, 'Devious Desire' is a breathless barrage of hard rock powered heavy metal with a cracking sing a long style chorus. What an in concert crowd participation moment that'll be - as long as Rexoria include this one in their set-list! Electrifying pace lights up the album in the shape of the mighty 'Rage And Madness' - forging a savage path as it scorches the Earth! And the rasp of Frida's vocal delivery as gorgeous as she is. A simply stunning performance - the band showing a clean pair of heels as they blitz the airways.

Mid paced mid tempo melodic mastery returns with 'Fading Rose' parading a hymn-like balladry like it's going outta fashion - the infectious level taking a steep upwards curve as many listeners, fans and followers raise their lighters high and sway from side to side. The band not really delivering a full blown ballad, just inflections of the many characteristics ballads have. And now for the most punchy of all songs heard so far - 'Light Up The Sky' pounding the ground hard, returning the head bang ability of earlier with metalheads all around the world rocking their heads back and forth to give their neck muscles one helluva work-out! 'Light Up The Sky' also sees, or rather hears, the return of the knee buckling vocal rasp! And I don't care how many times I mention it either - 'cause wouldn't you constantly rave about something you find fucking amazing! And oh my God - a much more angelic vocal performance than heard anywhere else on the album so far - the first twenty five seconds of 'Horizon' is simply wonderful. And then exploding into life 'Horizon' is up and running, pounding hard as it rocks hard and hits harder - Frida's voice cutting through the airways with absolute ease! The incredible energy level hasn't dipped since the album began, the band seemingly having access to an unlimited supply.

'Cause 'Set Me On Fire' is a terrific torrent of energy and pizzazz coupled with a punchiness that makes a gone the distance heavyweight championship boxing match seem tame in comparison! Rexoria are a young band that have made a massive impact over the last six years - just imagine what they can go on to achieve! The world is their oyster - and with gems like the red hot scorching 'Crushing For More' sending shockwaves around the globe, the only way is up! The band are more than capable of going shoulder to shoulder with anyone, their meld of melodic power metal with traditional metal a definite winner in my book - along with the gorgeous voice of lead singer Frida. And talking of Frida - her vocal rasp for the albums final song 'Enchanted Island' is simply mesmerising! The band are at their most energetic here too, 'Enchanted Island' rocking harder than any other song on offer, giving off a "happy metal" aura that's gonna plant smiles a mile wide on the faces of every listener, fan and follower. What a great ending to a very good album.

Overall, a ground shuddering burst of energetic power metal, highly melodic and insanely infectious.
