Enter My Nightmare E.P.

Reverend Hound are a heavy metal band from Germany, forming in 2004 under the name Savage, changing their name to Reverend Hound in 2008, releasing the 'Beyond Savagery' demo in 2009. Playing a brand of heavy metal that borders on the thrash metal genre, Reverend Hound released their debut album 'Release The Hounds' in 2015. 'Enter My Nightmare' E.P. is the bands newest release, seeing the light of day in 2018, featuring five songs, two from their demo, one live recording and two brand new songs.

First up are the two new songs, Reverend Hound opening their new release with new music... 'Enter My Nightmare' is the first song and strides in at almost eight minutes in length, and is deserving of every one. A metal band from Germany that stands in the heavy metal genre and not the power metal genre is a rarity. Reverend Hound are influenced more by the NWOBHM sound and the thrash metal genre than their home grown traditional style of metal music. 'Enter My Nightmare' features the buzzing guitar sound of the NWOBHM, the foot on the monitor style of traditional heavy metal and the brash heaviness of the thrash metal genre. A cracking opening salvo that ignites the senses. 'Battle Cries' sounds like a raw version of UK legends Saxon. Hard hitting riffs and catchy melodies push 'Battle Cries' along at a high tempo and will have heads nodding and feet stomping wherever it is played, performed and heard.

'War Of The Wolves' is lifted from the bands 2009 demo, and is a thundering slab of full on, in your face heavy metal. A touch of the melodic is thrown in there too, and the heaviness of thrash is plain to hear, and it most definitely is not power metal. Anthemic heavy metal takes front and centre as 'Heavy Metal Thunderstorm', taken from the bands debut album, crashes the party and stomps majestically forth. Similar in sound to iconic anthemic metallers Manowar, Sabaton and Powerwolf, 'Heavy Metal Thunderstorm' is a rabble rousing call to arms style romp, that will have the bands legion of fans all singing in unison "heavy metal, heavy metal thunderstorm".

The final song on the E.P. is a live recording of 'The Way Of The Gun', the studio version appearing on the bands demo. Displaying the energy, power and force of their live performances, Reverend Hound proceed to deliver 'The Way Of The Gun' with passion and pride. A cracking insight into how they sound live, the final song wraps up this five song release very nicely, very nicely indeed!

Overall, a full on and forceful heavy metal romp from a German band, coming at you from the heavy metal genre, and not the power metal genre, as you may have expected.
