Retador |
||||||
Retador are a thrash metal band from Spain formed in 2020, releasing their self titled debut album in 2022...
...featuring a savage ten song barrage over a blistering thirty six minutes! The rabid speed of the album is incredible - the band in top gear from start to finish. Launching the album, is the two and a half minute self titled instrumental 'Retador'...a crescendo building and anticipation filled passage that sets the tone for what is to come - a fast and furious torrent of brutality, courtesy of the blistering 'La Venda'. Speed and screeching metalcore-ish vocals fill the air as Retador steam forth with passion and purpose. And without pausing for a breather, the band roar on with the ferocious 'Furia' - and a more melodic thrash metal approach. Yes the fearsome vocals remain, it's just that the metal has a more attractive nature.
The outstanding pace and power of the opening double is increased ten-fold with the speedy 'Titeres' setting new land speed records as it scorches the Earth. The worlds metal heads will be frothing at the mouth as their heads rock back and forth at neck breaking speed. What a start to your debut album! A breathless start at that - no time for napping. The album storming on with the more sedate 'Violencia'. Ha! Ha! Sedate! In pace only - the heaviness heavier than what has gone before. Mid tempo foot stomping and a vocal performance you'd normally associate with brash thrash, 'Violencia' continues to accelerate. The sub two minute instrumental 'Ton 618' is a serene and fairly mellow passage, allowing listeners to grab a quick breath, before Retador impose their punishing blend of brutal thrash once more in the mighty shape of 'Deseo de Matar' - and a phenomenal fire and brimstone rampage that cuts and thrusts at the very heart of every metal head! The mosh pits are gonna go crazy for this one - as if they weren't crazy enough already!
Retador are an incredible force, devastating every "gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse and outhouse" within earshot of their music - 'Corrupcion' adopting a more mid tempo heavy foot stomp, rather than the blistering pace of everything that has hurtled by so far. The change in pace is further reflected by the mellow intro to 'Juicio Final' - which after just one minute gives way to the accustomed thrash furore of the band. The screaming metalcore-ish vocals makes a return too, the band showing total aggression and a desire for brutality that is second to none. The tenth and final song on offer, is the only song to exceed the five minute mark - 'B52' opening with a delightful atmospheric passage that would grace any traditional heavy metal album. And then with a screaming growl, 'B52' takes off at full flight, banging heads hard and causing absolute mayhem in an already mayhemic mosh pit.
Overall, fast paced, furious and ferocious, Retador deliver a blistering blend of aggression and brutality loaded thrash.
