Serpent's Kiss E.P. |
||||||
Rebellix are a thrash metal band from Finland formed in 2013 releasing their debut E.P. 'Final Decay' in 2018, and a second E.P. 'Serpent's Kiss' in 2021.
Featuring four songs and a parental advisory, 'Serpent's Kiss' is twenty minutes of melodic thrash metal, straddling the boundary with the heavy metal genre. Rebellix deliver mild aggression, and a highly infectious nature, as they romp through the four songs on offer. The title song is first up, and is a rough and tough fast paced rampage of all out thrash - yet the melodic thread woven within is the stuff of heavy metal. Rebellix blend the two classic styles of metal to great effect, attracting a wide array of fans.
And now the parental advisory: "explicit lyrics" - well what would you expect from a song titled 'Fuck You'. Aggression levels rise high, as the bands singer fairly snarls the lyrics, spitting venom with every word sung. The level of heaviness is also increased, the band briefly lifting their feet out of the heavy metal genre. Keeping the pace fast, Rebellix storm on with the thunderous 'Play The Game', weaving a scenic path through the thrash metal genre - the band also catering for the traditional metal fanatics. The meld of the two styles is a cracking mix, and one that the Finnish metallers have mastered.
With the unrelenting pace still in full flight, the final song 'Hail To The Sky' proceeds to pummel the senses with a barrage of robust riffs. The band deliver the most sing a long-able chorus out of the four songs on offer, the bands fan base all singing along in unison. And the sublime keyboard outro is a surprising yet pleasurable way to end what has been a scorching display of melodic thrash.
Overall, a twenty minute rampage of infectious and highly melodic thrash metal.
