Spider On The World

Ravage are a heavy metal band from the USA formed in 1995 who've released six E.P.'s and four albums during a three decade career - 'Spider On The World' is the bands most recent release...

...emerging in 2024 featuring a thrashy, traditional heavy metal sound! Founded by brothers Alec "Al Ravage" Firicano (vocals) and Eli Firicano (guitar), the band line-up is completed by Nick Izzo (guitar), Toni Belchior (drums), and Tommy G (bass) - 'Spider On The World' a ten song tsunami across forty fast paced minutes! 'Manmade Ice Age' launches the album forth with an explosion of pace and power, Ravage running rampant right from the off, banging the head of every single listener around the world! And the sound of traditional heavy metal lighting up the sky is phenomenal, the band planting their collective feet on the monitor to adopt the iconic pose and classic gallop of old school metal.

The album turns eerie and anticipative courtesy of the thirty second crescendo building instrumental 'The Call To Order' - leading straight into 'Sign Of The Spider' and an even greater old school aura than that of the (album) opener! Ravage began 'Spider On The World' with the pedal pressed firmly to the metal, roaring down the freeway at an incredible speed, ignoring limits and the local traffic cops to pursue a head bang ability that's way higher than the One World Trade Center. And that's high! And unbelievably, the pace increases even more, 'Ravage In Peace' scorching the earth as it hurtles across the land, devastating towns and villages with immense force! The band are on fucking fire, every listener, fan and follower rocking their head like there's no tomorrow - and just for the moment, there isn't!

And when I say moment, i really mean these forty minutes, 'Spider On The World' cruising on with a sharp, and very sudden, drop in pace and power, 'Without A Trace' opening the mellowest of any song heard so far! Is it balladry or a slow burn? A touch of both to be honest with ya - the reined in power is ballad-like, yet as 'Without A Trace' strides on, it does become heavier and much more intense! And eventually, the band step on the gas to resume the traditional metal gallop - Ravage displaying a mind bending array of metal styles in just the one song! 'Amazon Burning' features a more hustle and bustle feel than heard anywhere else so far, the level of head bang ability remaining extremely high as the album continues to ooze power and pace in abundance - the American five-piece powering on with the menacing, and very heavy. 'Corruption Of Blood'. And a huge anthemic feel too, the band shuddering the ground as 'Corruption Of Blood' stomps hard and kicks harder as it devastates everything standing in its way!

And when I say everything, I mean every "gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse" - nothing and no-one is safe from the bands unforgiving heavy metal attack! An attack that marches on with the title song 'Spider On The World' - and yet another increase in pace and power! Just where do the band find the energy from? Fucked if I know, but I'm glad they do, for the album has been a bombastic blast, 'Spider On The World' (the song) changing gears, tempo and feel across its entire five and a half minute run time! There's been touches of thrash metal all over the album since it began, attracting both metallers and thrashers to the bands soundscape - a soundscape that's been unrelentingly heavy without remorse - 'From The Mouth Of Pain' steaming ahead at full throttle! And a massive melodious injection too, Ravage delivering the most infectious, catchy and head bang-able song on offer - don't get me wrong though, every other song on the album has been infectious, catchy and head bang-able too, it's just that 'From The Mouth Of Pain' has that something extra! And to close 'Spider On The World' (the album), 'Face Of Infamy' clocks in at six and a half minutes in length, by far and away the longest song on offer, continuing the phenomenal pace of the album, Ravage are savage here, hitting harder than a thousand wrecking balls in full flight to deliver a final hurrah to keep the worldwide mosh pits very happy!

Overall, an album full of pace, power and head bang ability, 'Spider On The World' is jam packed with infectious heavy metal.
