Rage are a heavy/power metal band from Germany formed in 1984, releasing an incredible twenty four studio albums. Founded by vocalist/bass player Peter 'Peavy' Wagner, he has led the power trio to become one of the premier power metal bands to have ever emerged from Germany. With the bands twenty fifth album due later this year, the band have just released a new single - 'Virginity'.
The blend of thrash infused power metal that Rage have delivered for nearly four decades is showing absolutely no sign of mellowing - if anything, it's getting harsher, and grittier, with Peavy's gravel edged vocal style as throaty as ever.
'Virginity' explodes into life in a ferocious outburst of all out thrash metal - adopting a mid tempo power metal stomp as it gets going proper. The instantly recognisable voice of Peavy, cuts a vicious and highly aggressive tone, yet retains the melodic edge which has made him a unique vocalist in the metal world.
So the gauntlet has been laid down, a mouth watering teaser for the bands new album - their twenty fifth in an incredible career that spans nearly four decades. Rage are fast approaching grandfather status in regards to metal longevity, but they have certainly lost none of their youthful energy.
Overall, a vicious and aggressive, yet melodic appetiser for the new album, showcasing the bands blistering thrash powered, power metal sound.
