Radiant

Radiant are a melodic hard rock band from Germany, formed in 2014, releasing their self titled debut album in 2018.

"shining or glowing brightly" is the definition of the word radiant, and that is exactly what the band Radiant do, with the release of their debut album. Melodic hard rock of the no frills nature oozes from every song on offer, with Radiant a feel good, happy mood inducing band. One hour of classic sounding hard rock kicks off with the heavy hitting 'Yes I Am', with its sound a nod back to the eighties AOR/hard rock scene. Foot tapping and head nodding will accompany 'Yes I Am' as it rocks on by. Slightly heavier than the opening offering, 'I'm Alive' is hard hitting hard rock with an AOR overlay. After just two songs, if you're not insanely smiling by now, what the hell is wrong with you? Are you even alive? I know "I'm alive"... (feel free to insert a "groan" emoji here if you think that is an awful pun). Melodic power balladry takes centre stage as 'Silver Linings' strolls in and sidles forth at a low to mid tempo pace. The bands singer Herbie Langhans (ex Seventh Avenue and Voodoo Circle) has a terrific voice, which is perfect for this style of rock music.

Tempo and energy levels take an immediate upward trajectory as 'You Rock' thunders into life and storms on, all bluff and bluster, as it hits very hard. Kinda anthemic too, as it marches on, stamping its authority over anyone that stands in its way. 'Dorian Gray' brings a touch of cinematic majesty to the album, with huge riffage and mighty hooks. Get your lighters out and raise them high in salute to a power ballad straight out of the top drawer. 'Forever One' is a swashbuckling eighties sounding swagger of thundering rock. Meaty and highly energetic, 'Forever One' is a song that will most definitely get a party started. Big smiles and happy people everywhere...and why the hell not, as 'Heroes' floats in creating even bigger smiles with its infectious and catchy nature. There is a great sing a long flavour to this one, an anthemic style chorus for everyone to sing along to. Lightning pace lights up the album with the furious 'Liars' speeding like the Japanese bullet train and giving the head bangers of the world an opportunity for proper head banging. The nearest the album gets to heavy metal, 'Liars' is an awesome heavy hitting slab of thundering hard rock. Mid tempo and heavy, the foot stomper 'Not Worth After All' is mean and moody as it struts on by. Big riffing and even bigger hooks will have your feet stamping the ground very hard, with just a little hint of aggression.

Across sixty minutes you will find fourteen songs of classic hard rock, without a single one not deserving of its place. Majestic and epic 'Paint The Grey' is heavy on the atmosphere. Mid tempo with one of the best vocal performances on offer, 'Paint The Grey' has a cracking sing a long style chorus and is a sway from side to side style romp. Twanging guitar and soulful harmonies open the masterpiece 'My Own Way', sounding like the offspring from a romantic Valentines Day encounter between Journey and Whitesnake. 'My Own Way' is top notch power balladry, full of passion and emotion. 'Should I Live With You' has the title of a ballad, but boy oh boy it couldn't be further away from ballad territory. 'Should I Live With You' is up tempo and full of energetic hard rock, and in fact can easily be labelled as a "driving anthem". As the album draws to a close, 'Life's Shadows' is a heavy thumper of good time hard rock, foot tappingly addictive with an infectious rhythm. Radiant have delivered a sparkling album of AOR/classic rock, and round it off with the crowd participation pleaser 'Hit The Night'. A sing a long able song from the off, 'Hit The Night' has the kind of chant style chorus a live audience are gonna love, screaming "hit the light, wanna rock until the morning light" at the tops of their voices.

Overall, the classic hard rock sound from the eighties never sounded so good, as Radiant deliver a monumental modern day masterpiece of AOR/hard rock.
