PurEnvY are a thrash metal band from Australia formed in 2006, releasing their debut album 'As The Light Fades' in 2013. The band defy pigeon holing, fusing elements from the metal genres of thrash, speed and the iconic NWOBHM. Their second album 'Redemption' was released in 2018.

Perfection exists worldwide in many shapes and forms. My list of worldwide perfections is long, and gets longer every day. Included in my list of perfections, are bands Iron Maiden, Saxon and Rage, albums 'The Number Of The Beast', 'Master Of Puppets' and 'Reign In Blood', along with Doro Pesch, Iballa Chantelle and Mistress Of The Dark Elvira... My list is very long and I could babble on for days revealing everything and everyone in it, but those days will have to wait, as I am so excited to have a new album to add to the list... 'Redemption', by Australian thrash metallers PurEnvY. The bands second album is quite simply superb, and it's so strong, it will stand tall, and very proud, alongside recent albums such as 'Brotherhood Of The Snake' by American legends Testament, 'Weapons Of Thrash Destruction' by Canadian thrashers Terrifier, and 'Extinction' by fellow Australian thrash metal band Harlott.

Is it coincidence then, that PurEnvY, and the word "perfect" are so similar! Both have seven letters, two vowels, five consonants, begin with the letter "P" and contain the letter "R" - the first letter of the album title 'Redemption'... I think not! But what an album and what an adrenaline rush 'Redemption' is. Eight songs across fifty furious minutes will have you vigorously head banging, violently punching the air with your fists and screeching "yeahhhh" as loud as you possibly can. 'Deception' gets us underway with one of the heaviest, doom laden riffs you're ever gonna hear, as it builds to a crescendo, launching into a fiery tirade of shredding and we're up and running at full tilt. 'Deception' is a heavy metal, thrash metal combo, a unique blend of throaty rasping and death metal growling vocals, and is a breathless opening to a breath taking album. Jack hammer riffing sees 'Hollow' increase the heaviness, and the speed of the album too. Is there such a thing as melodic thrash metal? If not, by God there certainly fucking is now... Every song on the album is epic, clocking in at around, or even longer, than six minutes in length. 'Embodied By Dust' brings forth the guitar sound of the iconic NWOBHM evolution, and features a vocal performance that brings together the sound of death, metalcore and harsh thrash metal style vocals. With tonnes of attitude and aggression, PurEnvY are delivering one of the best albums I have heard in over three decades of listening to metal. The scorching pace of the album is phenomenal, the head banging addictiveness off the scale, and, as 'End Of Days' comes crashing out of my speakers with the force of a hurricane, threatening to demolish the fucking walls, my adrenaline levels have shot up, and my heart has begun to beat so fast I may be heading for a seizure! But fuck that shit, I am so euphoric listening to this album I would die an ecstatically happy man... Apt then that the song title is 'End Of Days' (insert "laughing" emoji here).

The best song on the album by the longest country mile ever, is the thundering, galloping, 'Blood Of The Innocent'. High velocity, highly energetic and delivered at such a pace that the a new land speed world record could be set. Melodic heavy metal meets full on thrash metal as 'Blood Of The Innocent' rampages furiously on, cutting a savage path across the land, stamping on anyone and anything that gets in its way. A simply stunning song that deserves to be played at the loudest setting your media devices have. How have I never heard of this band before now? The euphoria continues apace with the blistering 'March To Our Graves'. Rampant, bustling and foraging, just like a shopping centre full of shoppers making their last minute purchases on Christmas eve, 'March To Our Graves' is heavier than a wrecking ball, and will wreak more destruction too. Title song 'Redemption' maintains the albums exhilarating pace, maybe even increasing it a notch. Frenetic and furious, 'Redemption' also has a huge melodic metal edge, especially across the sing a long styled chorus break. Fantastic stuff guys... There is an old saying "all good things come to an end", and sadly so does this album, but by God it'll be played many more times. Bringing a great album to a close is the lightningly quick paced 'Forsaken'. The fastest of any of the songs on offer, 'Forsaken' is rampant and quite frankly, a savage barrage of brutal and aggressive thrash metal. I am so high on happiness right now that it's gonna take me a while to come down, or should that be calm down... Either way, I have just had my ears pleasured for fifty minutes by an album of perfection, 'Redemption', by PurEnvY, if you don't have it, why the fuck not? Go get it...NOW!

Overall, a euphorically stunning album of furious, fast and frenetic thrash metal, 'Redemption' is a perfect album.
