Gunmen

Orden Ogan are a power metal band from Germany forming in 1996, releasing three demos before their debut album in 2004. Following the great tradition of German power metal bands, Orden Ogan have gone from strength to strength, each album a progression from the previous. The band went on to release four more albums over the next ten years, releasing 'The Book Of Ogan' in 2016, a comprehensive double CD and double DVD box set. 'Gunmen' is the bands sixth album and was released in 2017.

German power metal refuses to die out, and in the hands of Orden Ogan, it is well and truly flourishing... Atmospheric and occasionally symphonic, Orden Ogan pummel the senses with heavy riffs and thunderous rhythms. Opening with 'Gunman', a glorious rampage of catchy hooks and melodies, Orden Ogan set the standard high for their new album. An addictive, galloping rhythm will keep heads banging hard and feet stomping harder as the explosive 'Gunman' storms on. 'Fields Of Sorrow' is more melodic than 'Gunman' and is a mid tempo foot stomp that is just so catchy you'll be breaking into a massive grin as it marches on. Increasing the pace after halfway, 'Fields Of Sorrow' is out and out heavy power metal played with a passion and pride that only the German power metal genre can deliver. Symphonically tinged power metal never sounded so good... With a dramatic increase in speed and power, 'Forlorn And Forsaken' is a riff heavy rampage. Proving they can step into the speed metal genre, Orden Ogan launch a devastating aural attack with 'Forlorn And Forsaken', taking influences from countrymen Powerwolf and Blind Guardian.

Fans of the stunning epic, glory and symphonic style of power metal are gonna love this album. Ten songs on offer, five over six minutes in length and an hours playing time in total, 'Gunmen' is very good value. 'Vampire In Ghost Town' swaggers in with an almighty chugging guitar sound and a thunderous military style rhythm. A vocal delivery that borders on story telling and you have a cracking romp of heavy power metal. Former Theatre Of Tragedy and Leaves' Eyes singer Liv Kristine adds her tremendous vocal talents to 'Come With Me To The Other Side'. Liv has also released five albums as a solo artist and joined Eluveitie as a session vocalist in 2016 for a couple of their live shows. 'Come With Me To The Other Side' opens in an acoustically mellow fashion with a soulful vocal delivery by Liv, before an explosion of riffs, pace and power take over and high velocity heavy metal hits the airways. The addition of female vocals is a master stroke, with 'Come With Me To The Other Side' a charismatic and charming rampage of power. 'The Face Of Silence' defines what German power metal stands for, catchy rhythms, addictive and sing a long style choruses and that all infectious vibe that makes you smile and feel all warm inside. 'The Face Of Silence' is a song that satisfies the metal craving...

Epic and majestic, the symphonic sounding 'Ashen Rain' is a mid tempo foot stomp with a gruff and rough sounding buzzing guitar riff. 'Ashen Rain' takes on a melodic hard rock stance at times and swings effortlessly from heavy metal to heavy rock. Atmospheric and bustling, 'Down Here (Wanted: Dead Or Alive) picks up the pace, with the relentless chugging rhythm a head banging opportunity most definitely not to be missed. The opening riffage that greets the listener as 'One Last Chance' makes its presence felt, is darker than anything heard previously and delivers a mean and moody vibe as it moves forward. Pulsating and pounding, that dark chugging riff drives 'One Last Chance' on, still retaining the catchy nature of the Orden Ogan signature sound. It's hard to believe that the final song has arrived, with almost an hour of music already played...just doesn't seem that long ago that 'Gunman' was playing! But what a song to end an album, nine minutes of meandering through different genres such as symphonic, heavy rock, heavy metal, speed and a slight touch of progressive, 'Finis Coronat Opus' is epic and glorious. Orden Ogan have got better with each album they have released and 'Gunmen' has raised the bar once again.

Overall, the legacy of German power metal continues in fabulous style as Orden Ogan delivers a gloriously passionate, thundering and infectious album of heavy metal.
