Neuronspoiler are a heavy metal & hard rock band from the UK formed in 2009 who released their debut album in 2013. The bands second album 'Second Sight' was released in 2017.
Britain is widely recognised as the birthplace of heavy metal with the NWOBHM genre a worldwide phenomenon. A long line of successful bands have emerged from these shores, with Neuronspoiler a worthy addition to that line. The bands second album explodes into life with the frenetically furious 'Reclaim Your Path'. The five piece from London blaze a scorching trail of bombasticness as 'Reclaim Your Path' flies by at high velocity, inducing involuntarily head banging. What an opening salvo. 'Slay The Beast' romps in and is a "fist in the air", "foot on the monitor" style powerhouse of a song. 'Slay The Beast' has a catchy sing a long style chorus and a rhythm so addictive that your head will be violently nodding back and forth from start to finish. No relenting of the blistering pace either as 'This Is Revolution' kicks in and romps on with a slightly more melodic feel to it. The opening three songs are all very heavy, catchy and infectious, featuring all the characteristics of the sound of traditional heavy metal. The future of British metal is in safe hands.
An atmospheric twanging intro breathes life into the mid tempo 'The Brave One'. Thunderously heavy and foot stompingly addictive, 'The Brave One' reigns in the pace and plods along majestically, evoking the sound of legendary British band Saxon. Loud and proud, melodic heavy rock has never sounded so good. Slowing the pace a little more, 'Queen Of The Darkness' ups the heaviness and is an intense fury of hard hitting riffs. The last time I heard this type of heavy buzz sounding guitars was on 'The Chemical Wedding' album, released in 1998 by Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson. The sound of Neuronspoiler is a magical blend of British bands Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Saxon and Black Sabbath, but with a touch more aggression and a lot more heaviness.
The most catchy and sing a long-able song on the album is 'Hidden Agenda'. Melodic heavy metal is the order of the day as 'Hidden Agenda' romps along, bringing a wave of nodding heads with it. Excitement levels are high, with the hairs on the back of arms raised, such is the effect of Neuronspoiler on the senses. The heavy hitting melodic hard rock vibe takes centre stage as 'Heart Of A Lion' storms in. Punching harder than a heavyweight boxing champion, 'Heart Of A Lion' is infectious and a sure winner with a live audience. All too soon and the album heads towards its end with 'Murder City' pounding away like a jack hammer demolishing concrete. Hard and heavy, 'Murder City' is a cracking end to a corker of an album.
Overall, heavy hitting and melodic, Neuronspoiler have delivered forty minutes of thrilling "foot on the monitor" style heavy metal.
