| Mysterizer are a heavy metal band from Finland, releasing the five song E.P. 'Tales From The Mystery Days' in 2018, and their full length debut album 'Invisible Enemy' in 2019. | ||||||
| The style of metal to come out of mainland Europe is normally power metal, yet Mysterizer have chosen the more traditional style, delivering eleven songs of galloping foot on the monitor style heavy metal. Launching the album in explosive fashion, 'Take And Go' is immediately into its stride, steaming ahead at full tilt, nodding its head toward the iconic NWOBHM sound. An infectious and addictive opening salvo is quickly followed by the thundering 'Trails Of Blood', sharing the same guitar sound so synonymous with the NWOBHM evolution. Delivered at a quicker pace than the albums opener, 'Trails Of Blood' is a furious canter of head bang able heavy metal. Bringing the glory and epic styles of metal to the album, 'Angel Of Mercy' is a mid tempo swagger, with an Iron Maiden 'A Matter Of Life And Death' era sound. After just three songs in, it is clear Mysterizer have taken on board the British sound of heavy metal rather than the European - not a bad thing, as Britain is afterall, the birthplace of heavy metal. | ||||||
| The buzzing guitar sound of the NWOBHM rises high with the high octane, fast paced 'No Return'. A thunderous avalanche of heavy riffing and a catchy sing a long able, anthemic style chorus, 'No Return' is surely gonna be a crowd favourite sing a long in a live arena. Mysterizer have so far delivered heavy metal of the most infectious and happy mood inducing nature with their debut full length offering, a nature that doesn't fade with the booming 'Just Wait'. Big riffing, punchy and beefy, 'Just Wait' is a mighty melodic march, taking a nod at the style of British stalwarts Saxon, as it trots on by. Three of the biggest bands to emerge from the NWOBHM evolution (and feel free to disagree with me here, I won't be offended), Judas Priest, Saxon and Iron Maiden, are all major influences on the Mysterizer sound. A galloping, epic and infectious sound, that is as unrelenting as it is addictive. Hustling and bustling, 'The Dead Man's Hand' is a meaty mid tempo riff storm, with an anthemic chant style chorus, Mysterizer delivering feel good heavy metal to make you feel, well, feel good... | ||||||
| Adding a sound that bands such as Motorhead and Girlschool brought to the world of heavy metal, 'Behind The Masquerade' is ballsy, punchy and bloody beefy. A thunderous trip of heavy hitting riffage, 'Behind The Masquerade' is fairly fierce as it canters by. At a little over two minutes in length, 'Splitting The Darkness' is the shortest song on offer, and is also an instrumental, all mellow and serene, acting as an introduction for the glorious 'Two Lives' to thunder into life. A mid tempo melodic march, 'Two Lives' is an atmospheric epic storm. A storm that gets more intense with the high octane, highly energetic 'Fire With Fire'. The anthemic chant style chorus is gonna be screamed by fans all around the world. And, just like many of the albums by British legends Iron Maiden, Mysterizer end their album with an epic longer song. The six minutes plus 'Invisible Enemy' has a slow burning and atmospheric opening, before bish, bash, bosh and we're off and running. The sound of traditional heavy metal galloping along at pace is a glorious sound, and one that Myterizer have served up in very large portions, not just with the final song, but across the entire album. | ||||||
| Overall, a traditional heavy metal offering, infectious and addictive from start to finish, 'Invisible Enemy' is an enjoyable and happy journey. | ||||||
