Incognito

Morano are a melodic hard rock band from the USA formed in 2016 by guitarist Duane Morano. 'Incognito' is the bands debut album and was released in 2019, featuring members of Tyketto, Extreme, Firehouse, XYZ and many more...

...Duane Morano attracting top musicians from the world of hard rock as special guests on 'Incognito', an album littered with infectious melodic rock, harking back to the glory years of the eighties/nineties AOR/melodic rock explosion. 'Incognito' offers thirteen songs across almost a one hour play time - there are party anthems, power ballads and classic AOR, something for every fan of melodic rock.

Featuring a sound ranging from bands such as (the aforementioned) Tyketto and Firehouse, along with Giant, Night Ranger, Ratt, Whitesnake and White Lion, 'Incognito' is a majestic march of melodic hard rock, with a monster of an eighties/nineties vibe. I have always said that an albums opening song must be a corker, to want to listen to the rest of the album, and in the mighty shape of 'After The Love', 'Incognito' has an absolute corker to begin the march. Bombastic and punchy just doesn't give 'After The Love' enough justice - melodic rock mastery with a huge party anthem feel, gives it the justice it deserves... And from there the album freestyles around the melodic rock, Southern rock and AOR genres for the next fifty minutes. 'Cookie Jar' is jazzy, bluesy and swaggers around like it owns the joint, 'Love Is A Lie' storms in like early eighties Whitesnake, hard hitting, sharp edged ballsy rock, while 'Face The Fire' ups the tempo, adds energy and canters on like the immense heavy hitting hard rock anthem it is. Catchy and infectious, 'Incognito' will have you smiling wide, feeling happy and tapping your feet with enjoyment. 'Giovanna' is good time rock 'n' roll, mid tempo and heavy hitting, and doesn't let the albums overall infectious feel slip away.

The varying singers across the album adds a different dimension and dynamic to the songs on offer, actually increasing the attractiveness of 'Incognito'. 'Don't Believe You' is the albums first lighters in the air moment - time to take your partners and dance slow, relax and take a breather. To get ready for the heavy hitting 'Barely Breathing' to inject a massive amount of energy and fizz, Half way through the album and my interest has not been lost for a second, and yes regular readers, not even for the ballad, which is quite amazing really, but then this is a rock album, the place where ballads should be... Sprinkling the album with more jazz and blues, 'Kid Gloves' is the kinda table dancing anthem you'd expect to hear in a bar that only plays Southern rock music. And although the title 'I Want Love' sounds like it should be a ballad, it isn't - it's a powerful punchy hard rocker that will have feet stamping hard, while 'Hearts' is pure balladry in motion. Guitars twang, emotions rise high, passion pours from every lyric...'Hearts' is one of those heart string tuggers in the vein of 'I Don't Want To Miss A Thing' (the ultimate tear jerker by American legends Aerosmith). Out and out hard rock returns to 'Incognito' in emphatic style with the pulsating and heavy hitting 'Manhattan', immediately followed by the thundering mid tempo stomper 'Why'. And amazingly, nearly fifty minutes has now passed since the album began - where did the time go? The albums closer is one of the best on offer, displaying everything great the hard rock, AOR and melodic rock genres have to offer. 'Sincerely Yours' is catchy and infectious, and will have you involuntarily chanting "sincerely yours" across the chorus - yes, it is that captivating a chant. And just like the album opener, the closer is an absolute corker too.

Overall, majestic melodic hard rock, full of energy and sparkle, 'Incognito' is punchy, ballsy and a great listen.
