Synchronism |
||||||
Miracle Flair are a modern melodic metal band from Switzerland formed in 2010 releasing their debut album 'Inner Peace Of Mind' in 2011. The bands sophomore album 'Angels Cast Shadows' followed in 2016, with their latest effort 'Synchronism' a 2020 release.
Hailing from a country famous for its staggering amount of cheese and chocolate, Miracle Flair bring forth a blend of melodic metal just as fresh, tasty and memorable as the aforementioned cheese and chocolate. Featuring the sultry vocal talents of lead singer Nicole Hartmann, Miracle Flair deliver eleven infectious songs across fifty one intoxicating minutes. From the moment 'The Untold' breathes life into the album, you are brought under the Miracle Flair spell, and are mesmerised by Nicole's soft, but attractive voice. 'The Untold' is a big, punchy, melodic march of European styled power metal, that soars effortlessly close to the symphonic style of metal. A great opening song that hooks you in, with the album not letting you go until the very end. The title song 'Synchronism' is a heavy hitter with a huge cinematic feel aiding its edge of the seat atmosphere. Foot tappingly intoxicating, 'Synchronism' (the song) is a powerful blend of melodic power metal. After just two songs, Miracle Flair are sizzling hot...
...as is Nicole, her vocal performance faultless, and a little hypnotic too. 'What Remains' brings more energy to the album, hitting hard as it moves swiftly on. A lively gallop, 'What Remains' is clearly the best song out of the opening three. But with eight songs remaining, I'm sure there's better ones coming. A mid tempo heavy foot stomp descends over the album as 'Torn Inside' marches forward with passion and power, changing pace to become a power metal gallop. The symphonic tinged vocal performance is awesome, and will make knees of fans all around the world go weak. Nicole restrains herself from the screech and scream style of many power metal vocalists, keeping a more calm and serene style - a style that oozes appeal. Turning up the energy levels, 'Presence Of Death' is another heavy hitting anthem that may just leave a few bruises as it barges its way past. And I'll openly admit that I could listen to Nicoles voice all day and all night and never get bored - I find it so intoxicating and gorgeous. I haven't heard a voice this damn sexy since the early eighties when I first heard the "metal queen" herself Doro Pesch - who happens to my fantasy icon in the metal and rock arena. Well Doro, you've got competition now... But I digress, what was I doing? Oh yes, reviewing an album...err, song six 'Torture Myself' is a high velocity, full on barrage of thumping heavy metal. Totally different to everything that's already passed, 'Torture Myself' is head bangingly addictive and a roaring "foot on the monitor" gallop. Even at this speed Nicole still restrains herself from any kind of screeching and screaming. Simply stunning.
Maintaining the albums sudden change in speed, 'Dying Existence' moves swiftly, powering on with purpose and intent, only slowing for the chorus break. Up until two songs ago, this was a very good album, but after hearing 'Torture Myself' and 'Dying Existence' it is now a great album, heading toward Album Of The Year contention. Yes, it's that fucking good. 'In Charge' returns front and centre the mid tempo, mid paced, melodic march that Miracle Flair have made their signature sound. And the infectious nature of that chorus is off the scale. That's eight songs gone out of eleven, but definitely not forgotten. This album is memorable for all the right reasons, and one that I have fallen in love with, as well as having a soft spot for the bands singer (insert "heart" emoji here) and her stunning voice. And just when I think the album can't get any better - it does! 'In Love And Hate' is a monster of a melodic masterpiece. 'Synchronism' (the album) is almost the perfect album - I say almost because there's still two songs left, and as we know anything could happen... 'Lost In The Void' picks up the pace, then slows, changing pace again and again as it punches its way to a conclusion. And that voice, so sexy as it symphonically batters the heart strings, making me all gooey and blushing "aw shucks"... And to the final song we arrive, without ever encountering a single ballad! Amazing,,, 'Echo Of Fear' is big, bold and infectious to the max. Mid paced and melodic, with yet another stunning vocal performance, 'Echo Of Fear' is the final confirmation that 'Synchronism' is indeed a perfect album, and will definitely get my vote as Album Of The Year and also Vocal Performance Of The Year, Simply stunning.
Overall, an album of stunning beauty, 'Synchronism' is a perfect blend of melodic symphonic power metal that mesmerises and intoxicates.
