Heroes In Time

Metalite are a melodic power metal band from Sweden formed in 2015, who have released their debut album in 2017.

Sweden, a country with a long history of producing hard rock/metal bands, continue that legacy with the female fronted Metalite. Breezing into view like a breath of fresh air, Metalite are full of energy and pace with a catchiness that will thrill and excite your senses. Eleven songs across fifty breathless minutes begins with the speed metal tinged 'Afterlife'. Played at a head bangingly furious pace, 'Afterlife' is a bombastic blast of energy, the twin guitar attack and galloping rhythm synonymous with the classic sound of the NWOBHM. Thundering into life, 'Purpose Of Life' is power metal of the purest form. Foot tappingly addictive and smile inducing, 'Purpose Of Life' crosses the boundaries of rock and metal. Making you sit up and take notice, Metalite have launched their assault into the world of heavy metal in spectacular fashion, with the opening double salvo a superb statement of intent. Pace does not relent either, as 'Nightmare' powers in and gallops off at high velocity. Clean and clear singing make for an easy listen and sing along, with Metalite delivering an awesome display of infectious "foot on the monitor" style heavy metal.

'The Hunter' adds a touch of the heavier vibe and is a monster riffing foot stomp. The chugging guitars chop mercilessly, with a thunderously heavy rhythm and an almighty catchy chorus break. The title song 'Heroes In Time' is a majestic romp of punchy riffs and a head bangingly addictive rhythm. The chorus is a gloriously sing a long-able affair with Metalite keeping up the breathless and quite frankly, exhilarating pace with ease. The prophetically titled 'Power Of Metal' is a scorching storm of speed metal, played at a fast pace with a huge injection of energy. Rocketing by in a flash 'Power Of Metal' is one of the best songs on the album. The chorus is anthemic and will have a concert audience singing along at the tops of their voices. With its hustle and bustle feel, 'Over And Done' is a rumbling rage of buzzing guitars and thundering rhythms. Pace and power combine to great effect as 'Over And Done' blazes a devastating trail of fire as it zooms past.

Punching hard, 'The Light Of Orion' is a majestic melodic hard rock stomp. Mid tempo in pace, guitars savage the airways as 'The Light Of Orion' swaggers on its way. I guess it was a little too much to ask, for a modern day power metal album to not have a ballad... 'In The Middle Of The Night' will have you reaching for your lighters to hold aloft. Swaying effortlessly from mellow ballad to power ballad 'In The Middle Of The Night' is a welcome breather from the albums breathless pace. 'Black Horse Rider' restores the albums sizzling pace and rocks very hard as it pounds away at the senses. Full of pace, hitting top speed across the chorus, 'Black Horse Rider' is a combination of the power and speed metal genres. From time to time, albums emerge that are full of energy and make the hairs on your forearms stand up, such are the sensations they give off...'Heroes In Time' (the album) is one of those albums. Blistering power, duelling guitars and galloping rhythms, Metalite have delivered a top notch album. Bringing it to a close is the swaggering 'The Great Force Within Us', a melodic hard rock romp fused with the classic sound of the NWOBHM. Every song on the album is infectious, catchy and memorable for all the right reasons.

Overall, a breathless breeze of power metal, perfectly blended with a touch of melodic hard rock, Metalite deliver an exhilarating and energising album.
