Aptitude For Elimination

Mentally Defiled are a thrash metal band from Greece formed in 2001 releasing their debut album in 2009 and the follow up 'Aptitude For Elimination' in 2014.

'Reanimated To Mosh' states it all really and as the album opener, it is an atmospheric instrumental that builds majestically to a crescendo before all hell breaks loose with blazing guitars and rampant rhythms as 'Aptitude For Elimination' storms in at breakneck speed. Heavily influenced by the mid eighties Bay Area thrash metal evolution, Mentally Defiled play frenzied, chaotic thrash metal. 'Fashion Victim' is fast paced yet has a catchy chorus line and will have the mosh pit going mental. 'Forced To Obey' is a skull crushingly frenetic romp, 'Thrash 'Till Afterlife' is a rocket powered romp of aggression fuelled thrash metal with 'Retro Nerd' increasing the tempo and chugging away like an out of control freight train.

The pace and speed of this album is just breath taking, with blistering guitar work, rampant rhythms and a gruff, gravel edged vocal performance. 'The Family' is very much the most guitar orientated song on the album, the guitars duelling and chopping ferociously and the venomous vocals are perfectly suited to this type of thrash metal. 'Beyond Redemption' is raucous, and is delivered at break neck speed with 'Merchants Of Hope' a Megadeth influenced top notch, top speed, top quality mosh pit favourite. Ending the album in the chaotic, frenzied fashion it started, is 'Soldier Of The Underground'. It is the fastest song on offer here and brings to a close an album of pulsating, fast paced, mid eighties influenced thrash metal.

Overall, breath taking pace and speed, this album is packed with blistering, high speed, aggressive thrash metal.
