Aptitude For Elimination |
||||||
Mentally Defiled are a thrash metal band from Greece formed in 2001 releasing their debut album 'The Thrash Brigade' in 2009, and the follow up 'Aptitude For Elimination' in 2014...
...featuring ten songs in just thirty three minutes! The one and a half minute instrumental opener 'Reanimated To Mosh' states it all really, building majestically to a crescendo before all hell breaks loose with blistering guitars as 'Aptitude For Elimination' storms in at breakneck speed! Heavily influenced by the mid eighties Bay Area thrash metal evolution and more specifically The Big 4 (Anthrax, Megadeth, Metallica and Slayer), Mentally Defiled play frenzied, chaotic thrash metal, 'Fashion Victim' very fast paced yet with a phenomenally catchy chorus line! The worldwide mosh pits are crazy right now, and are only gonna get crazier as 'Forced To Obey' increases the intensity of the album to its highest level yet - 'Forced To Obey' a skull crushingly frenetic romp to get every metalhead from here to eternity head banging hard.
There's just no stopping Mentally Defiled when they're in this mood, the unrelenting rocket powered, aggression fuelled thrash metal surging forth with 'Thrash 'Till Afterlife', the fiercely frenetic nature of the band turning quite brutal! And with a little savagery too, 'Retro Nerd' incredibly, increasing the tempo and speed of the album even further! And chugging away like an out of control freight train too, the band an unstoppable tour de force crushing everything and everyone in sight. The Greek thrashers are on top form, delivering blistering guitar work, rampant rhythms and a gruff, gravel edged vocal performance as 'The Family' chimes in with a more guitar orientated vision than heard on any other song so far. The guitars chop ferociously, with the venomous vocals perfectly suited to this type of full on and in your face thrash metal.
'Beyond Redemption' displays a more raucous nature than any other song on offer, the band remaining in top gear to deliver neck breaking thrash to every metalhead on the planet - the break neck speed maintained for the Megadeth inspired 'Merchants Of Hope', the legendary thrash metal bands immensely aggressive nature shining through ever so brightly. And as the final song looms large of the horizon, 'Aptitude For Elimination' (the album) has been a roaring cacophony of head bang able thrash, Mentally Defiled keeping the hammer well and truly down right from the start up to the very end - an end that arrives in a blinding flash with 'Soldier Of The Underground'. Probably the fastest song on offer, 'Soldier Of The Underground' provides every metalhead with one last opportunity to furiously head bang, 'Aptitude For Elimination' (the album) loaded to the hilt with pulsating, fast paced, mid eighties inspired thrash.
Overall, breath taking pace and speed, 'Aptitude For Elimination' is packed with blistering, high speed, aggressive thrash metal.
