Legacy Of Satan

Master Dy are a power metal band from Portugal formed by singer Dy Moob in 2019, releasing their debut album 'Unknown Sound' in 2021. The bands sound has been described as delivering "a light mix between Satanism and BDSM in a comical way" - by the band themselves! Hell yea - Satanic power metal! Initially inspired by Ghost, additional inspiration comes from Powerwolf, Alice Cooper, Dimmu Borgir, and Arch Enemy - Master Dy releasing their sophomore album 'Legacy Of Satan' in 2022.

Bringing the album to life, 'Amazonic Demon' is a one and a half minute tribal flavoured crescendo building sinister sounding intro, leading straight into the aggressively titled 'I Just Wanna Kill You' - aggressively titled it may be, but it actually flows like a calm river, delivering a lighter, softer, smoother power metal sound than the genres usual blistering surge of energy and pace. Yes there are heavier moments, but what really keeps it smooth is the sweet and angelic sound of Dy Moob's voice! No throaty rasp, no distortion, no growl, just innocent and sweet sounding. The title song 'Legacy Of Satan' is full of red hot scorching speed, retaining the same vocal delivery as previously - the band roaring like a massive fire on bonfire night! The difference in sound between the two opening songs is as wide as the Grand Canyon - and just as astonishing too! Definitely a sound I haven't heard before...

...especially Dy Moob's voice. Bustling heavy metal takes over the airways as 'Call Me Master' strides on, adopting a more power metal feel than anything heard so far. The band describe themselves as a power metal band, but methinks they're leaning more towards the heavy metal genre than the power metal one! Not a bad thing though - Master Dy perfectly combining two of my three favourite styles of metal (the third being thrash if you wanna know). With their foot firmly pressed on the accelerator, Master Dy storm on at high velocity with 'Swords Against God III', eventually dropping a couple of gears, and introducing a little rock 'n' roll swing! Yea - rock 'n' roll! 'Swords Against God III' is a breathless instrumental that maintains the momentum the album has gained since it began. Even the choir like breakdown mid song cannot halt the rampaging instrumental - 'Devil May Cry' introducing a more mellow and melodious intent than any other song heard so far. Master Dy, creating a power ballad atmosphere, keep just on the heavier side, so all you listeners out there put your lighters away - now is not the time!

Introducing the famous gallop - as pioneered (arguably) by heavy metal legends Iron Maiden - 'Mil Noites Que Chorei' is a solid slab of metal that's just as infectious and catchy as everything heard previously. And I'll mention it again, Master Dy are portraying much more of heavy metal feel than a power metal one - but who cares when the music is this good. Metal, in all its forms, is one of the greatest genres of music ever - with passion, camaraderie and fucking superb musicianship some of its biggest attractions! One of the heaviest songs on offer, 'Deceived By Faith' adopts a mid tempo feel with a foot stomping attitude, all the while maintaining that air of light and soft courtesy of Dy Moob's vocal delivery. Bringing the album to a close is the new heaviest song on offer 'I Know My Redemption', a bustling barrage of heavy riffs accompanied by a thundering gallop that'll have you rocking your head back and forth in rhythmic unison.

Overall, a thundering album of power come heavy metal, highly head bang-able, insanely infectious, and massively memorable.
