Magical Heart are a melodic hard rock band from Germany formed in 2014, releasing their debut album 'Another Wonderland' in 2018, featuring some of the hardest rocking AOR you could possibly imagine! And now. four years on, the band are back - and hitting harder than ever, with their barnstorming new album 'Heartsonic', released in 2022.
Eleven brand new songs over a hard rocking forty minutes show the band in fiery mood, slamming listeners with a harder, stiffer, and much bolder sound than heard on their debut. Firing on all cylinders, Magical Heart are quickly outta the blocks with the heavy hitting 'Bad Habits', swinging hard with strains of the bands root melodic rock sound. However, 'Bad Habits' has plenty on offer to effortlessly straddle the hard rock and heavy rock genres - the band expanding their musical horizons further than ever before. Title song 'Heartsonic' picks up the tempo and energy levels, fairly bouncing along at an incredible pace for a melodic rock song! But then, Magical Heart are no ordinary melodic rock band...they are a magical rock band, seamlessly blending many rock traits together as one. A simply outstanding start to the bands new album...
...just gets better and better, with the heavy, pulsating strains of 'My Own Way', carving out a definitive rock curve through the rock genre. The band projecting a wall of sound that is infectious, catchy, and head noddingly addictive. Four years ago the bands debut blew a big hole in the worldwide melodic rock scene with its energy and oomph - and this time around Magical Heart are filling that hole with a higher energy collection of songs that is surely gonna bring them to the attention of rock fans in every corner of the world! The bands rise up the ranks has now turned into a vertical trajectory, pushing them to the forefront of the melodic rock genre - 'Waiting For So Long' an insanely infectious and gorgeous slab of smile inducing rock to make everyone happy...and I mean, everyone! And keeping the happy vibe well and truly alive, 'Daydream' is an idyllic swagger of thundering rock. The intensity of the album is overwhelming, keeping listeners hooked and never letting go.
The impact of Magical Heart is not to be underestimated - the bands magical debut album still reverberating around the world. And now their sophomore effort too! The bands presence just getting bigger and bigger - and also their sound...I'm kinda hesitant to call them just a melodic hard rock band anymore. And then along comes a song that defines the bands melodic hard rock sound - 'Magical Star' a blend of ballad and hymn-like tendencies that just swan around effortlessly. What a song! And what a band! 'How Will The Story End' sees the band bring forth a punchiness not heard before, along with a pace and power to once again shift the album to the hard rock genre. Magical Heart making magical music with their new album, music that is gonna tickle the senses of every rocker everywhere - and a few metallers too! Lowering the overall tone of the album, 'Free Of Pain' is a little moody, a little darker, and a little grungier than everything heard so far. But none of the intensity and roaring rock vibe is lost, the band pumping one hundred percent energy and oomph into everything they do.
And with no down turn in energy, Magical Heart continue their melodic hard rock march with the punchiest song on offer 'It Could Go On (Forever)' - hitting harder than world champion boxers on a mission to deliver the quickest ever knockout! The band refusing to let go of the listeners attention, keeping a tight hold of it and never letting go. Every song on offer clocks in at under four and a half minutes in length, many at under four! Which means 'Heartsonic' (the album) fairly sprints from start to finish, with absolutely no chance of a breather. And as we head for the final two songs, still no breather in sight - 'Take Your Time' cruising on like a Sunday afternoon drive in the country...and take your time too, for there's one more rock gem left - 'Raise' highlighting the Southern rock swagger. Magical Heart blending their melodic hard rock roots with Southern rock to end the album on a high. And end a modern day rock album without a single full blown ballad on board. Kinda unheard of don't you think? I do.
Overall, a full on and energetic stroll of melodic hard rock from a band well on top of their game.
