Claws Out

Lÿnx are a hard rock band from Canada formed in 2020, releasing to date two E.P.'s - 'Lÿnx' (2020) and 'Long Live Rock N' Roll' (2021), and one full length album 'Claws Out' emerging in 2024.

The band - Jagur (vocals), Blade (guitar), Fangs (bass) and Flash (drums) - are a heavy hitting hard rock powerhouse in the vein of iconic bands such as Guns N' Roses, Hanoi Rocks, Mötley Crüe and Skid Row, gaining a reputation for high energy, attitude laden anthemic choruses and sizzling guitar solos. With their debut full length album, Lÿnx do more than just remind us of the "old days" during the eighties when hard rock branched out into hair and glam rock (and metal), there's a plethora of modern day touches to keep the bands music fresh and in your face - 'Hell In High Heels' roaring into life with tonnes of energy and oomph! The band hit hard with an immense wall of rock, hitting listeners with a bouncy barrage of eighties sounding hair come glam come hard rock!

The Canadian rock machine from Calgary have their claws well and truly out, every listener should be aware of an impending rock 'n' roll attack - Lÿnx storming on with the metal edged 'Rock Machine'. And a strong "foot on the monitor" feel so synonymous with traditional heavy metal, the guitar tone too, perfectly echoing the iconic NWOBHM sound. And of course, back in the heady days of the early eighties when rock and metal was still evolving, hard rock bands were all labelled as "heavy metal", including the likes of Def Leppard, Kiss and Whitesnake. So it's fair to assume that Lÿnx would have been labelled as heavy metal too - 'Rock Machine' proving they've got a metal edge! Title song 'Claws Out' is heavier than either of the two previous songs, the band maintaining the sky high energy level the album began with - yet in a more mid tempo fashion! Lÿnx are raucous, delivering gritty, hard hitting but not dirty hard rock, 'Claws Out' (the album) striding on with 'Can't Get Enough'. Bringing a Southern rock swagger to the fore, the band hint at the in your face bluesy hard rock of American icons Aerosmith. The sheer sleaziness pouring outta 'Can't Get Enough' is incredible, Lÿnx roaming all across rock territory to deliver a wide array of styles to please an even wider array of listeners.

And as the album marches on, the band continue to shake it up, pressing the pedal firmly to the metal for the blistering 'Shake It Up' - melding heavy metal with the bands hard rock roots! And for every metalhead - you just might be able to head bang here, Lÿnx catering for the head bangers of the world and not just the rockers! Ever since 'Claws Out' (the album) began, every listener's been hooked on everything the band has to offer, Lÿnx tightly grabbing attentions and never letting go - 'Band Of Brothers' entering the fray with a resounding thump! And a tribal feel too, especially across the first minute or so, settling into an anthemic hymn-like march as it gets going proper - the band continuing to stretch their musical boundaries far and wide! And with a title that suggests an incoming ballad, Lÿnx don't disappoint, delivering 'Nothing But Love' with a sprinkling of American rockers Poison - think the bands 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn' era! So get your lighters out and hold them high to acknowledge a passionately sung ballad.

Landing firmly and squarely back in the hard rock genre, 'Claws Out' (the album) storms on with the heavy hitting 'Hard As Life'. Punching hard and kicking harder, Lÿnx are revelling in visiting every corner of the rock genre, occasionally dipping their toes over the border wall into metal territory to keep the heads of every metaller faced in the direction of the Canadian rock machine! A rock machine that pulls no punches - just triggers! 'Pull The Trigger' is the most diverse sounding song on offer, the band melding a little Grunge and alternative rock into their soundscape - a soundscape that's opening even wider than ever to attract listeners from every walk of rock! And bringing the album to a close, 'Lights Out' chimes in as the fastest song on offer, Lÿnx setting a blistering speed as 'Claws Out' (the album) roars at full throttle to a finish!

Overall, a hard rocking hair come glam come sleaze rock album featuring a multitude of styles that's gonna attract a wide range of listeners.
