Drawing Lessons E.P. |
||||||
Lockersludge are a doom/sludge/hardcore metal band from the UK who released their debut album in 2008, 'Falling On Our Faces' E.P. in 2012 and their current release, 'Drawing Lessons' E.P. in 2013.
'Burden Of Pain' opens the new E.P. with a raw and brutal feel to it, reminiscent of the style pioneered by UK legends Venom in the early eighties. Listen carefully, and there is also a punk tinge in there too. 'Burden Of Pain' is heavy and chugs relentlessly. 'Guilt, Anger And Aggression' is (understandably) attitude laden and full of angst. Snappy vocals, chopping guitars and a mild doom riff style keeps the song at a mid tempo pace with the song title an anthemic chant of a chorus.
Keeping with the mid tempo pace, 'Drawing Lessons' is riff heavy and again, whether the band are trying to emulate the early style of Venom or not, the music has those brutal NWOBHM traits as well as the gruff vocal delivery. Upping the tempo and intensity 'Beard Of Doom' introduces elements of the early nineties Anthrax style, in your face, aggressive, yet melodic all at the same time. 'Burn In Hell' slows the pace down, guitars are heavy and the vocals are snarling.
Overall, heavy, doom laden riffing, gruff and aggressive vocals and chugging rhythms.
