Warlord E.P. |
||||||
Leather Synn are a heavy metal band from Portugal, originally forming in 2009 as Leather, changing their name to Leather Synn in 2011, and releasing their self titled E.P. in 2013. Over the coming years, the band's line-up would constantly change with solidity hard to come by, but in 2020, Leather Synn are looking to put those years of struggle and frustration behind them, by moving forward with their second E.P. 'Warlord'.
Performing straight up, classic heavy metal, Leather Synn's new E.P. contains four songs - two new ones and two songs that appeared on their first E.P. re-recorded with the new line-up. The title song 'Warlord' opens the E.P. with a super intro, firmly rooted in the epic and glory genres of heavy metal. The atmosphere created is electric, building to a crescendo and then boom! Swashbuckling heavy metal lurches forward at pace, with the sound of traditional heavy metal filling the air. The anthemic chant style chorus is a joy, with everyone chanting "warlord" at the tops of their voices. What an exciting opening...
...with the excitement far from over. 'Still In My Heart' is a rollicking romp of traditional heavy metal, the sound of the eighties well and truly alive. Comparisons to bands such as Angel Witch and Raven will invoke discussion, but the sound of 'Still In My Heart' is firmly rooted in the NWOBHM heyday.
The second half of the E.P. contains the two re-recorded songs, the first of which is the bombastic and galloping 'Synn Is Ynn'. Very much an example of traditional heavy metal, 'Synn Is Ynn' is "foot on the monitor" styled and highly addictive. The final song is an anthem to end all anthems - 'Committed To Metal'. Atmospheric and epic in equally large portions, 'Committed To Metal' is Manowar, Sabaton and Powerwolf all rolled into one. Clenched fists will be raised high in the air to salute yet another metal anthem for metal heads to live and breathe by.
Overall, a four song thumping of traditional heavy metal, nodding its head towards the glorious eighties with a sound reminiscent of the iconic NWOBHM.
