Muerte Y Metal

Intranced are a heavy metal band from the USA formed in 2022, releasing their debut album 'Muerte Y Metal' in 2024.

The title of the album 'Muerte Y Metal' is a Spanish phrase that translates to "death and metal", the bands vocalist James-Paul Luna (ex White Wizzard, ex Holy Grail) explains "beyond the literal translation, I feel like it encompasses the album, its themes and the vibe of the music". Luna himself, and guitarist Fili Bibiano (Fortress) are of Mexican heritage, whereas bass player Nico Straub is from Argentina. "I have always wanted to write and sing songs in Spanish, since that is my family's native tongue" says Luna, which explains songs such as 'Entra La Tormenta' and 'Reyes De Las Tinieblas' - more on those later! The bands line-up is completed by drummer Ben Richardson (Poisoned Chalice), the four piece metal band delivering a brand of traditional heavy metal that borders on thrash, heavy, and hard rock. Across all ten songs on offer you can clearly hear a diverse range of influences, there really is something here for every heavy metal fan, 'Muerte Y Metal' storming into life with pace courtesy of 'Reyes De Las Tinieblas' - the sound of galloping, traditional heavy metal greeting every listener! The band are at full tilt here, planting one "foot on the monitor" and the other firmly on the accelerator...

...keeping the pedal pressed to the metal as 'Switchblade' swings into view with one helluva catchy feel! A feel that oozes a little blues, Southern rock, and the late seventies metal sound - Intranced bringing together a variety of musical genres to create a sound attractive to a very wide audience. The American outfit have delivered two clearly different styles of metal across the albums first two songs, the third 'Fantasy', a speedster with huge head bang ability! The pace here is incredible, every mosh pit around the world turning frenetic to this one, heads rocking back and forth at an extremely high rate of knots. The intensity of the opening triple has been top notch, grabbing listeners attentions tightly and not letting go, the band storming on with the old schooler 'I Dunno Nothin'. Intranced mean business with their debut release, delivering heavy metal of the most infectious nature with a massive head bang-able feel.

A feel that's unlikely to go away, the title song 'Muerte Y Metal' strolling into view on the crest of a mellow, crescendo building passage before launching headlong into anthemic territory. The foot stomping attitude is heavy enough to shudder the ground, crumble walls and wobble buildings, 'Muerte Y Metal' (the song) commanding the airways from start to finish! 'Entra La Tormenta' is a one minute, effects laden mid album breather acting as an eerie intro for 'Lady Lightning' to come crashing through the air at a hundred miles an hour! The pace and power is phenomenal, Intranced keeping the heads of every listener, fan and follower rocking back and forth - and fists punching the air too!

Fists that are gonna continue to punch the air as 'Pulse' breaks free and thunders forth at a mid tempo mid pace - the American four-piece maintaining their proud stance right in the heart of heavy metal territory. The band are so passionate about their metal there's no pretending here, 'Muerte Y Metal' (the album) roaring on with a thunderous gallop courtesy of 'Passionate Pretender'. More bombastic and punchy than any other song on offer, 'Passionate Pretender' displays the power driven metal style of British icons Judas Priest - not bad for a band fifty years younger than the metal legends! And at over six and a half minutes in length, 'See You On The Other Side' is the longest song on the album, bringing 'Muerte Y Metal' (the album) to a close with a hymn like come ballad come anthemic feel. The slowest and mellowest song on offer by a country mile, feel free to raise lighters high in the air to salute a monumental melodic march of metal.

Overall, foot to the floor, foot on the monitor heavy metal with a high infectious level and loads of head bang ability.
