Fury Of Ages

InnerSiege are a power metal band from the USA formed in 2008 releasing their debut album 'Kingdom Of Shadows' in 2012. The bands sophomore album 'Fury Of Ages' was released in 2021.

Blending traits you'd associate with the likes of HammerFall, Primal Fear, and Iron Maiden, InnerSiege continue their march through the melodic power metal genre. The bands second album 'Fury Of Ages', is eleven songs long, spanning almost fifty minutes, and features an absolute belter of a heavy metal anthem - more about that later! Because right here, right now, the album storms into life with the fast paced 'Calling For Violence'. Delivering a sound that lies at the heavier end of the power metal genre, 'Calling For Violence' shudders the ground as it thunders past. Featuring a guitar riff that embodies everything the NWOBHM stands for, 'Reborn' is classic sounding traditional heavy metal. Moving forward at a mid tempo pace, 'Reborn' is head noddingly addictive and will have the worlds traditionalists clamouring to hear more...

...and hear more they will, as the album powers on with the European sounding power metaller 'Firewind'. Awash with everything that is great about the power metal sound, 'Firewind' is the most infectious song heard so far, and will surely go down a storm in a live arena. The sub two minute instrumental 'Virtuous Iniquity' is a haunting passage that sends chills down the spine - as it leads to the heavier and harsher 'Echoes Into Eternity'. A near groove-like metal riff will have hairs on forearms standing tall, such is the incredible effect of 'Echoes Into Eternity'. A definite favourite song on the album. And the awesome riffage is not done with yet - the groove/NWOBHM influenced 'World Of Darkness' marches majestically into sight, highly reminiscent of British legends Saxon.

And now it's time for a new metal anthem, filled with incredible lyrics - "no-one can stop the heavy metal flame" and "I will hold the banner high, playing heavy metal till I die". Fucking awesome! 'Power. Metal. Glory.' is a superb slice of anthemic metal, the chorus chant of "power. metal. glory." will be sung everywhere by everyone. And just imagine what it'll sound like screeched by thousands of concert goers! 'Power. Metal. Glory.' is definitely the stand out song on the album.

With its rough and ready feel, 'Iron Lotus' bustles into life and strides on with a poise resembling legendary bands Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. And I think I forgot to mention that 'Iron Lotus' is also an instrumental - one helluva instrumental! It's catchy and infectious and definitely not an instrumental to skip. And back to the traditional metal inspired InnerSiege soundscape in the shape of 'Stronghold'. Definitely an American power metal sound rather than European, 'Stronghold' picks up the pace as it passes the halfway mark, fairly scorching the Earth! Delving deep into the heavy foot stomping style of metal, 'Hero' bulges with heaviness - heaviness that shows 'Hero' to be the heaviest song on the album, yet the melodious and sing a long able chorus contradicts the "heaviest song on the album" observation. And as the final song comes roaring over the horizon, InnerSiege's second album has been a non stop journey of melodic power metal, with 'World On Fire' closing the album in the shape of another mid tempo heavy hitter.

Overall, eleven songs of heavy, yet melodic power metal, with each one an infectious and joyous aural pleasure.
