Defying The Parable E.P.

Heroes Will Fall are a heavy metal band from the USA formed in 2008, releasing their debut album 'The Red Chapter' in 2010, and debut E.P. 'Defying The Parable' in 2012...

...featuring five songs across twenty five scorching minutes! Displaying the bands varied musical roots, 'Defying The Parable' E.P. is an aural assault of everything from traditional heavy metal to hard rock with a little groove and a hint of metalcore! 'Ataxia' kicks off the E.P. in very heavy fashion, the band quickly into their stride to shudder the ground with immense force! Melding the styles of bands such as Fear Factory and Evanescence, Heroes Will Fall are gonna attract a very wide audience with this one.

And with an increase in energy and tempo, 'A Well-Meant Delusion' sets off at a hundred miles an hour, adopting a mid to high, rough riff laden groove metal stomp - the vocals ranging from clean to growled, and just a hint of the growling snarl of Slayer vocalist Tom Araya. And featuring a slightly more melodic nature than heard so far, 'Endlessly' rumbles in like a steamroller, flattening everyone and everything in its path, yet despite all the aggression and oomph, Heroes Will Fall are at their most infectious here as well!

The nearest the E.P. gets to traditional heavy metal is via the hard hitting 'Incendiary', going as far as planting one "foot on the monitor" - the band maintaining their eclectic approach to metal and rock. The vocals here too are very clean, seamlessly switching to growled and back again in the blink of an eye. Probably the best song out of the five on offer, 'Incendiary' is a head turner for sure!

Fifth and final song on the E.P. is 'The Bargain', starting out slow and heavy with a menacing, snarling vocal delivery, quickening to become a fast paced and raucous rampage that runs very close to the thrash metal border! And when all's said and done - or is that sung and finished - the vocal range of singer Justin Peyatt is phenomenal, as is the musicianship of the rest of the band - guitarist Mike Allison, drummer Fred Rabideau, and bass player Carlos Souza.

Overall, an impressive release of heavy as hell riff laden songs with clean and growled vocals.
