Arson |
||||||
Fatal Fire are a power metal band from Germany formed in 2020 releasing their debut album 'Arson' in 2024.
Fronted by the powerhouse vocals of Svenja Rohmann, Fatal Fire - guitarists Tim Kremer and Valentyn Subotovic, bassist Dennis Nerding, drummer Till Felden, and (the aforementioned) vocalist Rohmann - come storming outta Frankfurt at a hundred miles an hour, the band blending together power and traditional heavy metal with a speedy foot to the floor mentality of bands such as Bitter Velvet, Lankester Merrin, Savage Master, and TOWER.
Fatal Fire are in devastating form, racing through all eight songs on offer in less than forty, fairly fast and furious minutes, the album setting off at incredible speed with album opener 'Destruction' - the band pressing the pedal firmly to the metal, roaring on with phenomenal purpose and intent! The pace of 'Destruction' is electrifying, banging heads hard with an insane amount of energy and force - a force that's ten times more powerful than gravity! And we all know how powerful gravity is don't we? It does after all, stop us from falling off the face of the fucking planet! And without missing a beat, the album roars on with the gloriously old school metaller 'Ashes Remain', the guitar tone a perfect match to that of that of the iconic eighties NWOBHM evolution - but at a considerably faster pace than heard back in the day! Fatal Fire have taken on board a forty year old sound, beefed it up and added weight to make it more muscular sounding, resulting in an insanely high level of head bang ability - a level that's just rocketed off the fucking charts!
A simply phenomenal opening double becomes a triple with 'Dawn Of Fate' rattling along faster than a freight train on a deadline - the band maintaining the albums early foot to the floor mentality! The five piece from Frankfurt have been red hot across the albums first third, creating an intense atmosphere that's so fucking irresistible you won't be able to stop listening! Nor will you be able to stop your head rocking back and forth, Fatal Fire commanding the airways with a potent blend of immensely infectious heavy metal - heavy metal that marches on at its heaviest since the album began courtesy of 'Crossroads', the band adopting an anthemic aura crossed with a mighty foot stomp! That is until the chorus break when 'Crossroads' changes up a few gears to rocket forth and bang heads hard! Again! And banging heads hard is what 'Arson' has been doing since (album) opener 'Destruction' - 'Sea Of Damnation' entering the fray as the fastest song heard so far! And with the bands power metal roots very much in the ascendancy too, the band melding together two of my favourite three genres of metal (the third being thrash if anyone wants to know) - Fatal Fire catering for a very wide array of fans!
And a wide of array of fans is exactly what 'Arson' is gonna get - the album storming on at pace with 'Meteorites'. Travelling just as quick as anything heard so far, 'Meteorites' actually features a much more head bang-able aura than felt anywhere else - which is a fairly incredible thing to say when you consider that every single song on offer has an irresistibly high head bang ability! I defy anyone to not be head banging right now - the album moving on swiftly with 'Kingslayer'. And a heaviness that outstrips everything heard up to this point, 'Arson' a ferocious barrage of unabashed and unadulterated heavy metal with a gigantic infectious level and an even bigger melodious intent! Bringing the album to a close, Fatal Fire mix it up a little by introducing the most sedate paced song on offer, 'Ardent Wave' dripping with more elegance and majesty than every other song put together! The disappearance of all out pace and power is dramatic, the band planting their collective feet in anthemic come hymn-like territory for 'Arson's final hurrah.
Overall, a head bang-able all out heavy metal gallop, 'Arson' is infectious and will keep you permanently hooked from start to finish.
