Beyond Recovery

Erasement are a thrash metal band from Germany formed in 2011, releasing their debut album 'It Comes To Life' in 2015. The legacy of German thrash metal that began during the eighties with the "Teutonic Big 4" Kreator, Sodom, Destruction and Tankard, is kept well and truly alive by Erasement. The band released their sophomore album 'Beyond Recovery' in 2018.

Eight songs, thirty five minutes, strap yourselves in and get ready for a raucous, intense and frenetic full on thrash metal attack. The opening salvo is the title song 'Beyond Recovery', exploding into life with a force savage enough to leave bruises... Everything about the sound of German thrash metal is embodied by Erasement, raw, aggressive and in your face. The savagery doesn't let up either as the album powers on with the heavy hitting wrecking ball that masquerades under the title 'Presence Of Doom'. A little eerie and chilling, 'Presence Of Doom' has a bit of a thrash metal groove going on, as it marches majestically on its way.

'Extinction' maintains the albums heavy groove, albeit at a much heavier tempo. 'Extinction' is a barrage of pummelling thrash at its heaviest, reach for the pain relief you lesser mortals, my neck muscles are just getting warmed up... And warmed up they need to be, as 'Black Mass' lurches forward at a blistering pace that requires neck muscles to be at their most flexible. Violent head banging is the only style of head banging that 'Black Mass' demands. Absolutely breathless. And for three pulsating minutes, 'Reapers Realm' takes on the sound and feel of thrash metal legends Testament as it rockets on at high velocity. What a song, what a romp, what an album...

Oh my fucking God please no... The next song up is 'Lucille' and I am praying to every God in existence that this is not a cover of the 1977 Kenny Rogers hit... And my prayers have been answered with a resounding and very loud "no". Erasement's 'Lucille' is a ground shaking, super charged, terrifyingly quick thrash metal rampage. The fastest song on offer so far, 'Lucille' is a blistering slice of aggression fuelled thrash metal. The old saying "save the best for last" is one hundred percent appropriate right now, as the final two songs on offer are superb. They are remastered versions of previously only available online songs. First up is 'Until You Die', a fast paced and head bangingly infectious rampage, a song that would sit perfectly in territory owned by giants such as Testament, Annihilator and Flotsam And Jetsam. The second, and final song on the album is 'D.V.P.', which stands for "Destruction, Violence and Pain!", and believe me when I say, you'll be chanting those words for a very long time to come. 'D.V.P.' is infectious, fast, aggressive and a superb end to a great album.

Overall, very heavy hitting and aggressive thrash metal, keeping alive the aggressive and brutal sound of the German thrash metal scene.
