Disciples Of War

Dreamlord are a thrash metal band from Greece formed in 1995 releasing three demo's over the next five years before going on hiatus in 2001. In 2007 the band released a self titled mini album, featuring songs from their earlier demo's. And in 2019 Dreamlord released their debut full length album 'Disciples Of War'.

Influenced by worldwide superstars of thrash Megadeth, Sepultura and Kreator, Greek thrashers Dreamlord deliver a blend of thrash that is fast, aggressive and in your face. Their debut album features ten songs across a fifty minute play time, each one a head bangers dream - the foot is well and truly on the monitor as Dreamlord race out the gates with 'Out For Blood'. One of their earliest songs, 'Out For Blood' is bolshie, brash and harsh, reminiscent of early Exodus and Nuclear Assault. 'Out For Blood' is fast, furious and fierce, and is a thunderous opening to the bands debut album - an incredible twenty five years after forming! The title song 'Disciples Of War' doubles the albums intensity and ferocity, galloping as hard as a champion race horse gallops through the final furlong. I hope your neck muscles are fully warmed up as this is gonna be a vigorous workout. Entering the doom heavy style of thrash, 'The 11th Hour' is a menacing foot stomp, all angry and attitudinal as it stomps aggressively on its way.

Picking up the pace to become a thunderous speedster, 'Humanity Enslaved' is a furious furore of freneticism, with a huge (early) Anthrax feel. The varying influences that Dreamlord have, makes for a very interesting mix of thrash, very infectious and one that will hold your attention for the albums entire fifty minutes. 'Aggressive Denial' is all hustle and bustle as it forages a savage path across the land, demolishing buildings and small villages. Anything, or anyone in its path are gonna be decimated without mercy. Dreamlord are delivering a brutal bruising - and I love it. 'Infratricide' is a heavy mid paced thrash slow burner. The kinda slow burners Megadeth are famed for. Dreamlord have shown their prowess at all styles of thrash metal, their debut album exhibiting them all, making for a varied and addictive listen.

As the album powers into the final third, the pace hits maximum velocity with the scorching 'Blinded Eyes' leaving burn marks in its wake. Influenced by Metallica, 'Blinded Eyes' exhibits the iconic thrash bands' early punk infused raw energy. At over six minutes in length, 'Act Of God' is a monumental and mesmerising instrumental. With plenty of thrashy riffs and changes of pace and mood, 'Act Of God' is an instrumental that doesn't lose the listeners attention for a single moment. 'Outcast' opens in a heavily sinister mood, proceeding to scare the shit out of many listeners with its blundering heaviness. The savage blows that 'Outcast' inflicts will have the local police swarming around looking to do someone for GBH... The final song on the album 'Uncompromised', is a six minute thunderstorm of savagery. From the off, 'Uncompromised' wreaks havoc, bustling its way past with no mercy, and brings an end to a thoroughly enjoyable and head bangingly addictive journey.

Overall, a galloping furore of fast and mid paced thrash, influenced by many of the worlds iconic bands, 'Disciples Of War' is an infectious and varied listen.
