Come Here Alive E.P. |
||||||
Cox are an alternative rock band from Russia. This young band released their debut single 'Save Me' in 2013 and have just released a four song E.P.
Title song 'Come Here Alive' opens the E.P. in a blaze of solid hard rock, with clear vocals and a foot tapping rhythm. The guitar driven 'Wind Goes In Circles' crashes in and has numerous tempo changes. Reminiscent of the great American hard rock bands from the late eighties and early nineties, this song has excellent guitar work, great vocals, a mesmeric rhythm and a catchy sing a long chorus.
'Dead For Me' continues in the same vein, a very catchy, rhythmic hard rock song, with some very well sung vocals. Final song 'What About Love' borders on ballad territory, with acoustic guitars and a very soulful vocal performance, yet isn't ballad enough to raise any lighters in the air; it remains too hard rock.
Overall, an impressive debut from a young band, great vocals and superb musicianship will make the wait for an album an impatient one.
