Incinerator E.P. |
||||||
City Of Thieves are a heavy rock band from the UK formed in early 2015 and will be releasing their debut E.P. in September 2015.
An energetic blast of bombastic blues tinged heavy rock and the debut release from new band City Of Thieves is a go, with huge riffs, a foot stomping rhythm and a raspy, slightly gravel edged vocal performance. The energy levels are turned up, as is the heaviness as 'Lay Me To Waste' strides in and aggressively barges its way through huge riffs and hooks. The guitar solo reminds me of down and dirty sleaze rock played in a saloon bar! Amazingly, the energy levels get turned up even higher with the excellent 'Buzzed Up City' with its AC/DC boogie influence, anthemic chorus and the best vocal performance on the E.P.
If you listen carefully, you will hear hints of legendary sleaze rock bands Hanoi Rocks and Faster Pussycat. Both these bands delivered energetic, ballsy, high tempo heavy rock and City Of Thieves are echoing this. 'Here Comes The Shot' is even more energetic, more intense and contains more infectious grooves than you can throw the proverbial stick at! As a bonus, there is a live acoustic version of 'Mr 50/50', which displays the band stripped bare, with superb vocals, superb guitars and a sing a long chorus.
Overall, high energy, high intensity, heavy rock with a strong hint of the sleaze rock genre, this is infectious and head noddingly addictive.
