Among The Corpses E.P.

Battlefront are a heavy metal band from Mexico, releasing their debut album 'Vengeance' in 2020, and debut E.P. 'Among The Corpses' in 2024...

...featuring five new songs and three live ones! Well, the deluxe edition does - there's also a four song standard edition, but I was fortunate enough to have been sent the deluxe one for review. Well worth it just for the live songs - more on those later as the E.P. roars into life with the fast and furiously paced 'Lips Of Blood'. The band are in top gear here, pounding the ground hard and rocking the heads back and forth of every listener everywhere. The rough, tough and gruff nature of 'Lips Of Blood' is gonna attract thrashers into the bands soundscape too, Battlefront storming along the border wall between thrash and traditional metal territory! And with just as much pace and power as the previous song, 'Mirror Mirror' plants one foot firmly on the heavy metal monitor to maintain the phenomenal intensity level the E.P. began with.

A barnstorming brace from the Mexican metallers, Battlefront march on with the thundering 'Built For War', the band shuddering the ground with a heavy foot stomping attitude. The heaviness here is pounding, 'Built For War' echoing the sound of a raging war with bullets flying and bombs dropping, the band turning the land into a roaring inferno of utter devastation! The E.P.'s title song 'Among The Corpses' enters the fray with a mellower feel than everything heard so far - the anticipative feel of an impending cacophony of heavy hitting metal is almost too much to bear! And at two minutes in, the band let all hell break fucking loose, 'Among The Corpses' (the song) becoming a wondrous slice of head banging heaven. The heaviness heard earlier makes a welcome return, the band resuming the immense intensity the E.P. began with! 'Widow Maker' sets a blistering pace as it roars louder than anything heard up to this point, Battlefront battering every listener, fan and follower with a savage array of thrash infused, traditional heavy metal! The newest and most recent song written by the band, if 'Widow Maker' is a sign of things to come, I for one can't wait for the bands next release!

How long we'll have to wait for new Battlefront music I don't actually know, but what I do know is - the three live songs are worth the E.P.'s purchase price alone! The raw energy oozing from this treble is fucking phenomenal, the band storming through 'Heroes Of The Fire' (off the bands debut album), 'Mirror Mirror' and 'Scream In The Night' (also off the debut album) at an almighty rate of knots! The head bang ability here is off the fucking charts too - can you just imagine what it would've been like to be down the front, or even in the mosh pit, when Battleftont performed these live on stage! I envy all those that attended the show! And if you're able to get your hands on a copy of the deluxe edition, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Overall, a barnstorming heavy metal gallop with touches of thrash layered across every song, Battlefront deliver the fucking goods.
