Anubis E.P. |
||||||
Anubis are a thrash/power metal band from the USA forming in 2018, releasing the four song E.P. 'Ashes' in 2019, and the three song E.P. 'Anubis' in 2020.
Melding the speed and aggression of thrash metal, with the twin guitar attack and soaring vocals of traditional power metal, Anubis set about battering the aural networks of metal heads all around the world, with the opening gallop 'Everything Disintegrates'. With just three songs on offer, Anubis have had to pull out all the stops to make as big an impression as possible...
...and boy do they get it spot on. The blistering pace of 'Everything Disintegrates' is highly reminiscent of bands such as Helloween, Gamma Ray, Running Wild and Rage - all European bands, for Anubis portray a much more European flavour than an American one. A cracking opener...
...and one that sets the scene, or should that be sound, for the rest of the E.P. 'Sin For Me' is much heavier, retaining the pace of the previous song, providing an excellent opportunity for head banging. 'Sin For Me' also has the line "ride the sky" in the opening lyrics...springing to mind a classic Helloween song. Third and final song 'Prayer For The Prey', is the fastest of all three on offer, and fairly storms past at a ferocious speed. If you're looking for a short blast of explosive power metal, give Anubis a spin - you won't be disappointed.
Overall, an explosive eleven minutes of heavy hitting power metal, Anubis make an immediate and intense impression.
