...and now, in 2020, the world will hear his latest, and most personal album, 'Fights Like Ours'. Andy has always written songs around personal experiences and observations - with many of the fourteen songs on offer, having a very personal connection to Andy. From the sad passing of his father, to his mums battle with cancer, and Andy's struggle with his own demons, there is something on 'Fights Like Ours' that will resonate with everyone, and show you that you're not alone in dealing with many of life's ups and downs. If you're looking for an album to get the party started, you need to look elsewhere - this is a sombre, mellow, and sometimes melancholy journey of reflection...
...with the classic sound of soft rock mixed with folk and pop nuances to create a listening experience best served sat outside on a warm summers evening, sipping a drink, letting yourself relax, and drift away in the personal moments that Andy narrates so beautifully... For Andy handles all vocals, guitars, piano, keyboards and many other instruments, including harmonica and harmonium. Oh, and he produced the album too.
Regular readers of my reviews will know I normally write a little bit about every song on an album - the way it sounds and the way it makes me feel, that kinda thing. But for this review, I'm not gonna do that... Instead of giving you an idea of what to expect, I want you to find out for yourselves, to take the journey of reflection, and be amazed at how personal this album is - and just how many of your own struggles in life are mirrored by the songs on offer. Andy has created a very powerful and moving album, that will resonate with many listeners, and maybe, just maybe, help you in coming to terms with or overcoming your own struggles.
Overall, a mellow and sombre, yet infectious listen, 'Fights Like Ours' is a powerful and hard hitting, emotion filled journey of personal experiences.
