Private Vices, Public Pleasures E.P.

Alleycatz are a hard rock band from the UK formed by multi-instrumentalist Joseph James, releasing the bands debut E.P. 'Private Vices, Public Pleasures' in 2023...

...featuring five bombastic hard rock come heavy metal songs that hark back to the glorious eighties when bands such as Faster Pussycat, Hanoi Rocks, Motley Crue, and Skid Row were shaping a new genre of rock and metal - known as sleaze! Offering fun, tongue-in-cheek lyrics to make listeners jaws drop, these bands paved the way for thousands more to follow - Alleycatz just the latest in a long, long line. The E.P. opens with the sultry swagger of 'She's A Vixen', hitting hard with a punchy sound full of so much energy and force walls are gonna shake! I was fortunate to have grown up during the eighties listening to sleaze rock develop, and I can tell you with total certainty, Alleycatz have recreated that sound perfectly.

Maintaining the bombastic start, 'Big City Girls' actually increases the E.P.'s oomph, striding tall with head held high and an overwhelming "look at me" attitude. Sleaze rock is all sultry and sassy with a sexy swagger and tonnes of sparkling energy, Alleycatz oozing it in abundance. And if the older fans out there close your eyes, you'd be forgiven for thinking you were right bang smack in the middle of the eighties listening to the mighty 'Crue! With a surge of pace and power, the band deliver 'Do It For The Rock N Roll' with a mighty slap around the head! Hitting harder than anything heard so far, 'Do It For The Rock N Roll' will surely go down a fucking storm in a live arena, with every concert goer singing along at the tops of their voices.

And with the sexy swagger of sleaze very much in evidence, Alleycatz pound the ground hard with 'Stage Door' - the heaviest song on the E.P. and the nearest any of the songs on offer actually get to heavy metal. The fifth and final song 'Cutting Corners' is a cover version of Finnish rockers Hanoi Rocks classic song taken from the bands 1984 album 'Two Steps From The Move' - Alleycatz doing a fantastic job of retaining the originals tempo and feel.

Overall, a five song firestorm of feisty, frivolous fun, Alleycatz deliver a big slice of sassy sleaze rock.
