Afterblood are a groove death thrash metal band from Greece formed in 2011.

Any female fronted death or thrash metal band will always be compared to Angela Gossow-era Arch Enemy and Afterblood will be no exception. Except, there is an exception here, as Hel Pyre has her own style that sets her apart from (just copying) Gossow.

Opening song off the album is the thunderous 'Take', with a guitar chug that just rumbles relentlessly on and on, supported by a solid rhythm section and deep growled death metal vocals. 'Before Time Runs Out' is a foot stomping up tempo rage of aggression, which is followed by one of the highlights off the album. Sodom singer Tom Anglripper guests on the awesome 'Mission Of Aggression', which has a superb slow guitar chugging riff that will involuntarily stomp your feet and bang your head.

A mosh pit favourite is 'Thoughts Of Black', which switches effortlessly between rampaging thrash, death and doom metal. The quirky, atmospheric 'Play Dead' introduces 'Beyond', a mid tempo riff heavy death groove song with a blistering guitar solo midway through. 'Calling The Dead (Séance)' is an epic stomp, Helheim is a melodic death metal romp of atmospheric darkness and brilliant guitar work and 'The More I Lie' is a thunderous rampage of epic time changes and superb vocals.

'Psychonic'  is a brutal thrash assault, 'Goodnight' is another quirky dark atmospheric spoken moment, with the album closer a fantastic cover of 'Phobia' (by Kreator). This is so well played that if you did not know any different, you would believe that this is an Afterblood written song.

Overall, an awesome chugging guitar sound with a brutally heavy rhythm and deep growled death metal vocals. A very impressive debut.
