Dying Gorgeous Lies are a female fronted thrash metal band from Germany formed in 2009, releasing their debut album 'Insanitarium' in 2011, and the follow up, 'First World Breakdown' in 2015. The band have toured with thrash metal giants such as Testament, Overkill, Destruction and Sepultura. Keeping the sound of German thrash metal well and truly alive, Dying Gorgeous Lies deliver brutal, brash and barn storming, ferocious thrash. The growls and howls of lead singer Liz Gor Geous will lacerate every nerve in your body, as the band deliver a furious attack on your senses with the release of their third album, 2019's 'The Hunter And The Prey'.

Right, I'm only gonna mention this the once, if you've ever wondered what a female fronted version of Kreator would sound like, you need wonder no more. German thrashers Dying Gorgeous Lies are that version. Two part opener 'From The Ashes/Hellfire' gently eases you in with its effects laden, atmospheric and menacing crescendo, launching a tirade of aggressive thrash with an almighty howling growl. 'From The Ashes/Hellfire' is a crushing cacophony of brutal thrash metal, with its chant style chorus of "hellfire" a terrifying triumph that will be lapped up by a frenzied fan base of head banging maniacs. An apocalypse is defined as a "catastrophic and destructive event", which 'We Are The Apocalypse' could well set in motion. Blistering speed and aggression fuels 'We Are The Apocalypse' as it thunders on, destroying anyone and anything that gets in its way. And then fuck me, the mightiest mid tempo foot stomp ever, stamps you hard as 'Revolution Day' drops the biggest skull crushing riffage this side of a Kreator, Slayer and Megadeth threesome. The pace quickens, the menace doubles and the aggression level will rip your head off. 'Revolution Day' is terrific thrash metal that will nod your head back and forth at an extreme rate of knots, stretching your neck muscles to previously uncharted waters.

An explosive opening triple salvo of immense thrash just keeps going. There is no stopping Dying Gorgeous Lies as they push forth with the speedster '...And As The Bombs Fell'. Rumbling by like a vicious thunderstorm, '...And As The Bombs Fell' is high velocity, highly energetic thrash to head bang furiously to. And furious head banging is all you're gonna be doing for the albums entire forty five minute play time. Pace, power, passion and out and out thrash doesn't give way at all as the album lurches forward with the feisty 'Fatal Craving'. Savagely cutting and thrusting its way across the land, 'Fatal Craving' stabs hard, to leave you battered and bruised...in a good way! Exhilarating speed blended with savage riffage heralds 'New World Order' to the fore. The barrage of savagery unleashed by Dying Gorgeous Lies is one hundred percent brutal, and a fucking joy to listen to. At just over halfway, the album has been a breathless ride of terrific thrash metal. And the ride ain't over yet...

'Ancient Tales' is fire and brimstone, a nuclear explosion, a thousand tsunamis hitting all at once. Savage is an understatement and doesn't truly reflect the brutal barrage that 'Ancient Tales' delivers. You're just gonna have to take a listen and decide for yourself. Dying Gorgeous Lies are a brutal beast of an entity, all sharp claws and teeth that will rip you to shreds. 'Beast Mode' is fast, furious and fierce. A small dose of the melodic is sewn into 'Beast Mode', making it the most catchy and infectious song on offer. Fans of the traditional style of heavy metal will find 'Beast Mode' attractive, and may move their listening choices more toward the thrash metal genre just because of this one song. 'Greetings From Aleppo' is an intense and in your face fury of freneticism. Really spell check, freneticism is not a word! Well it fucking should be...as freneticism is what 'Greetings From Aleppo' delivers in abundance. Final song on the album 'Sweet Taste Of Lies', sees Dying Gorgeous Lies speed furiously to the albums end. Head bangingly infectious and a thunderous rampage, 'Sweet Taste Of Lies' is a breath taking barrage of savagery, bringing the curtain down on a cracking album of pace, power and aggression.

Overall, an aggressive and thunderous romp of savagely brutal thrash metal, delivered at a blistering pace that will have your heads banging furiously.
